Race of champions organisers hope to get Lewis Hamilton on board when they draw up their list of invitees for next year's event.

There had been talk of British star Hamilton competing in Sunday's end-of-season motor racing show piece at Wembley but a long-standing sponsorship arrangement prevented the 22-year-old from taking on the likes of Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Andy Priaulx and Mattias Ekstrom.

Fredrik Jonsson, one of the event's co-founders said: "Lewis has always said he wants to do this and we hope we can work something out for next year."
